“We all need holiday decoration ideas. And as much as I love stringing garland (I don’t) I’m more at home making stuff with tools.”
On Wood. It’s Real., we talk about how easy it can be to grab some boards and build something. When we asked Mark from My Fix It Up Life to put together a fun, yet simple, project for the holidays, he picked up seven 2×6 pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine boards and got to work.
This project, once again, shows the versatility of Southern Yellow Pine – and also highlights its durability. Since it’s pressure treated, it’ll stand up to the elements. (However, as Mark points out, the light he used isn’t rated for use in precipitation.)
There are plenty of ways you could take this pyramid idea and make it your own. It could be painted green and decorated like a tree. Or you could string lights all around it to make it truly lit.
As an extra bonus, it would be easy to store at the end of the season. That’s because you could take out the screws and ‘flat pack’ it if you don’t want it up all year round.
Simple, affordable, homemade, AND made from Southern Yellow Pine? Excellent.
