When we found out about The Cú Chulainn Coaster at Tayto Park in Ireland, we at Wood. It’s Real. got so excited. Opened in June 2015, it’s Europe’s largest inverted wooden roller coaster. And here’s the part we really love…it was grown right here in Georgia, y’all. We found some awesome video that gives us all a front row seat.

We did a little digging and found out that the mill and treater for the lumber used in this massive project was S.I. Storey Lumber in Armuchee, GA. The entire coaster is constructed of Southern Yellow Pine, 800 tons of it. We’re going to talk to Hal Storey soon about this project…and his family’s company’s other wooden roller coasters around the world. How fun, right?
